October Theme: Forgiveness
This month we will focus on forgiveness practices for releasing resentment, anger, and bitterness.
Forgiveness is a self-compassionate act whereby we set ourselves free of anger and resentment. Forgiveness is not the same as condoning ourselves or anyone else for misbehavior. Rather, with forgiveness, we make amends when needed but let go of the extra burdens of anger and resentments. Resentment and chronic anger are toxic to our physical and mental health and create obstacles to heart-centered living. Although we cannot will forgiveness, we can be willing. Moving toward forgiveness is a process that takes time and self awareness. This retreat will provide a supportive structure and opportunities for beginning to forgive.
Four Steps of Forgiveness:
1. Acknowledging the hurt.
2. Gaining understanding.
3. Rebuilding a sense of safety.
4. Letting go.
Unplug and recharge each month! Each monthly retreat will focus on a theme designed to help you deepen your mindfulness practice. Retreats will be three hours in length and will include silent sitting practice, guided meditation practice, mindful movement, and brief topic discussion. Mats, cushions, blankets, and floor chairs are available for use. You are welcome to bring your own mat and/or cushion if you have them. You may want to bring a journal for written reflection. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a light jacket if you tend to get cool.
